Botulinum Toxin

O Globo Saúde – Botulinum toxin
The use of the most famous ally in the fight against wrinkles and expression lines, botulinum toxin – a substance that has become popular for its most famous brand, Botox -, is increasingly improved. Treatment options can be found in aesthetic clinics where the toxin is used to a greater or lesser extent and in conjunction with other substances such as hyaluronic acid.
Presented last month at the Latin American Meeting of Scientific Update Allergan, in São Paulo, the microbotox is a novelty with the toxin. The technique is done with more superficial microinjections.
“We can treat the entire face and neck area, get more superficial wrinkles and keep the area moving,” says dermatologist Murilo Drummond. “The results can be perceived for up to five months,” he says.
To rejuvenate the neck region, often damaged by sun exposure, Daniel Coimbra, a dermatologist at the Les Peaux Clinic, has just launched the Trilogy Antiage, an association of botulinum toxin, CO2 laser and skinbooster. The process is done in three steps. To relax the musculature of the cervix region, the botox is applied in several points, with little quantity and superficially. Then the carbon dioxide laser is applied to remove the superficial layer of the skin where the wrinkles are. To finish, Coimbra performs the skinbooster, applying hyaluronic acid with mannitol, to deeply hydrate the skin.
– The treatment rejuvenates the skin of the cervix. The result is a more lighted, smooth and rejuvenated area. In general, three sessions are enough to obtain a satisfactory result.
Plastic Surgeon Rodrigo Mangaravite developed the liquid facelift, a combination of hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin, applied independently.
– It works on wrinkles, reducing expression marks, and fills the grooves, without changing the facial contours, giving a natural look. In some cases, it is an alternative for those who want to postpone “cutting and sewing” – he says.
For people over 35, the doctor Márcia Pontes indicates Plasmox, a treatment based on the patient’s own plasma injection, enriched with vitamin C and botulinum toxin:
– In addition to the toxin decreasing the superficial shrinkage of the skin, plasma stimulates cell renewal and collagen formation, and vitamin C acts as a powerful antioxidant.
